Modern Slavery Statement for Man and a Van Marylebone
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Man and a Van Marylebone in respect of our financial year and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically, transparently, and with integrity in all of our relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not occur.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Man and a Van Marylebone provides local and regional transport, removals, and related services. Our operations are based primarily in the United Kingdom, and our supply chain includes vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel and equipment suppliers, uniforms and consumables providers, and occasional use of subcontracted transport services.
We recognise that certain sectors involved in logistics, transport, and ancillary services can present a higher risk of labour exploitation. Accordingly, we are committed to assessing and managing these risks with particular care.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
We have a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, debt bondage, and exploitation. This policy applies to all people working for or on behalf of Man and a Van Marylebone, regardless of location, contractual status, or seniority.
We expect the same high standards from all of our suppliers, contractors, and business partners. We will not knowingly work with any organisation that is involved in, or fails to take adequate steps to prevent, modern slavery or human trafficking within its own business or supply chains.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are committed to engaging only with suppliers and subcontractors that share our values on ethical conduct and human rights. As part of our supplier due diligence process, we seek to understand the structure of our suppliers' businesses, the nature of their workforce, and the risks of labour exploitation within their operations and supply chains.
Where appropriate, we may carry out risk-based supplier audits or request evidence of policies and practices addressing modern slavery, including employment terms, right to work checks, wage and working time records, and grievance mechanisms. For higher-risk categories, we reserve the right to conduct more detailed assessments, including site visits or independent third-party audits where proportionate and feasible.
Suppliers are required to comply with all applicable laws relating to modern slavery and human trafficking and to ensure that their own suppliers and subcontractors adhere to similar standards. We will consider terminating relationships with any supplier that is found to be in serious breach of these expectations or that fails to implement satisfactory corrective measures.
Training, Awareness, and Internal Controls
We aim to promote awareness of modern slavery risks among relevant staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, supplier management, and the coordination of subcontracted services. Employees are briefed on our zero-tolerance stance and on indicators of potential exploitation, such as signs of coercion, restriction of movement, withheld identity documents, or unusual dependency on a third party.
Internal procedures require that all workers engaged by Man and a Van Marylebone have appropriate right to work documentation and fair contractual terms, and that payment of wages is made directly to the worker wherever practicable. We do not charge recruitment fees to workers and we do not tolerate practices that could create debt bondage or undue dependency.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
We encourage anyone associated with Man and a Van Marylebone, including employees, workers, suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or human trafficking within our business or supply chains. Reports may be made to management or through any established internal reporting mechanisms.
All concerns will be taken seriously and treated sensitively, and where appropriate will be investigated promptly and impartially. We will not tolerate victimisation of anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated upon investigation. Where a real and immediate risk to individuals is identified, we will take appropriate action and, where necessary, cooperate with relevant authorities.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility and that our approach must continue to evolve. Man and a Van Marylebone is committed to reviewing this Modern Slavery Statement at least annually, or more frequently if there are significant changes in our business, supply chains, or in relevant legislation and guidance.
As part of each annual review, we will evaluate the effectiveness of our existing measures, including supplier due diligence processes, risk assessments, and training initiatives. We will consider whether further steps are required to strengthen our controls and whether additional engagement with suppliers or external experts is necessary.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Man and a Van Marylebone and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our operations.
